The apparent loss of cooling power in an air conditioning system is a common complaint. Often, there is a simple fix that can solve the problem, so before you call out a professional technician to carry out AC repairs, check for any of the following frequently occurring problems.

Dirty air filter

It could just be that you have a dirty filter. Accumulated dirt in the filter can interrupt the flow of cool air or it could even damage the motor. Air filters are easy and cheap to replace, however.

Incorrect temperature setting

It may sound obvious, but people often think there is something wrong with their AC when, really, all they have to do is change the temperature setting. Check the thermostat and make sure that it is a minimum of five degrees below room temperature.

If you have a programmable thermostat, this is great, as it saves money and improves the convenience of your system. However, it could be that your system has been programmed to deliver a higher temperature. Take a look and adjust accordingly.

Dirty outdoor unit

The outdoor unit collects a lot of dirt and debris over a short period of time. Check it often and have it cleaned every year. This is part of an annual service from any good HVAC company.

If you have checked all of these and you find that your AC’s temperature is not improving, you need to contact a good technician.  Right Now Air & Solar is a company dedicated to professional heating, air conditioning, and solar power systems. Contact us and let us take a look.
